Your problem is that telstra recently changed the IP of their ns1.telstra.net server, and for some reason your server is getting the wrong IP... dig -t any @ns1.mikka.net.au ns1.telstra.net ; <<>> DiG 2.2 <<>> -t @ns1.mikka.net.au ns1.telstra.net ; (1 server found) ;; res options: init recurs defnam dnsrch ;; got answer: ;; ->>HEADER<<- opcode: QUERY, status: NOERROR, id: 10 ;; flags: qr rd ra; Ques: 1, Ans: 1, Auth: 2, Addit: 2 ;; QUESTIONS: ;; ns1.telstra.net, type = ANY, class = IN ;; ANSWERS: ns1.telstra.net. 60561 A 139.130.4.5 ;; AUTHORITY RECORDS: telstra.NET. 104758 NS TECKLA.APNIC.NET. telstra.NET. 104758 NS JATZ.AARNET.EDU.AU. ;; ADDITIONAL RECORDS: TECKLA.APNIC.NET. 172188 A 202.12.28.129 JATZ.AARNET.EDU.AU. 172188 A 139.130.204.4 ;; Total query time: 315 msec ;; FROM: dna to SERVER: ns1.mikka.net.au 203.32.71.4 ;; WHEN: Fri Jan 10 10:18:52 1997 ;; MSG SIZE sent: 33 rcvd: 151 where as dig -t any @TECKLA.APNIC.NET. ns1.telstra.net ; <<>> DiG 2.2 <<>> -t @TECKLA.APNIC.NET. ns1.telstra.net ; (1 server found) ;; res options: init recurs defnam dnsrch ;; got answer: ;; ->>HEADER<<- opcode: QUERY, status: NOERROR, id: 10 ;; flags: qr aa rd ra; Ques: 1, Ans: 1, Auth: 2, Addit: 2 ;; QUESTIONS: ;; ns1.telstra.net, type = ANY, class = IN ;; ANSWERS: ns1.telstra.net. 86400 A 203.50.0.24 ;; AUTHORITY RECORDS: telstra.net. 86400 NS jatz.aarnet.edu.au. telstra.net. 86400 NS teckla.apnic.net. ;; ADDITIONAL RECORDS: jatz.aarnet.edu.au. 40110 A 139.130.204.4 teckla.apnic.net. 172800 A 202.12.28.129 ;; Total query time: 5453 msec ;; FROM: dna to SERVER: TECKLA.APNIC.NET. 202.12.28.129 ;; WHEN: Fri Jan 10 10:19:58 1997 ;; MSG SIZE sent: 33 rcvd: 151 So you are somehow getting the IP 139.130.4.5 rather then the real IP of 203.50.0.24 from your lookups. I suggest you check any glue records (address records in zone files) that you may have for ns1.telstra.net, or perhaps your /etc/hosts file.
