Subject: Re: [Oz-ISP] Cisco interface shutdowns?
No followups recorded.

Hi there,

One that I am aware of (but might not relate to you) is when you turn
on portfast on an ethernet port, then enable BPDU guard (either
globally or on the interface....depending on what platform and what
software).

If the port sees a BPDU, it will be shut down
(administratively....'shutdown' added to the config). This is useful in
situations where a port is primarily used for host connections and you
want to prevent users from plugging in switches or hubs or anything
that uses spanning tree.

Cheers,
Evan
