Subject: [Oz-ISP] 64k ISDN data calls on Optus Multiline
No followups recorded.

Recieved this from our account manager today:

BNP Multiline 64k National Data Calls

BNP Multilines can now be configured to carry National 64k ISDN Data Calls!
This release allows Optus to move into the $200M+ market for ISDN data
calls - although the main intent of this release is to drive more Multiline
voice sales, with the target market being customers that mainly require
Multiline voice but also require a basic ability to make ISDN data calls
over their Multiline service.

Typical customer applications for this service are Videoconferencing or
inter-PABX signalling.
Pricing of data calls uses the same rates as voice calls, except if local
data calls >5 minutes duration are expected to be made to Telstra
destinations in which case a timed local call rate may need to be used
(pending PM approval).

Note that there are a number of limitations for this service, including:

* Product Manager approval is required for activation of Data Calls,
including review of a traffic forecast.

* Data Calls will be billed in exactly the same way as voice calls - the
bill will not differentiate between data and voice calls.

* Long held data calls to local Telstra destinations are to be avoided, due
to untimed interconnect costs.

* Data calls can only be made to (or received from) Optus or Telstra
destinations within Australia.

* Optus provides individual 64k bearer services, and any channel aggregation
or application support is the responsibility of the customer.

Finally!

Juan
