dunno.

i know that with postfix you need a policy daemon to use SPF directly
(there are a few available that do both greylisting and SPF and some
other anti-spam/anti-virus checks).

or you can use it in SpamAssassin to contribute to the score.

yes. for rejecting mail where the SPF record for the envelope From
address and/or the HELO name doesn't list the connecting smtp client.

the SPF record for a domain contains the list of hosts which the
domain's owner authorises to send mail FROM that domain. i can't think
of anyone else who would be authoritative for such a list than the
domain owner.
