I've just had a customer ring up asking about adsl, who advised me that a certain computer shop in Jimboomba, who also happens to be a telstra countrywide dealer, had told them that adsl was coming to their local exchange. Now that sounds nice, but they also advised him that for the first 6 months, you could only get connected if you went with bigpong as your ISP, as telstra were not allowing any other ISP's to connect customers up. I have asked him to obtain more information for me, but he told me that there was nothing in print, just what the co-owner of that computer shop said to him. The only printed thing he got was in a letterbox drop from telstra with this particular shop's details on it offering 'free' mobile phone stuff. This whole thing stinks of deceptive and dishonest business practices, and should not be allowed to happen, but how do you get something like this stopped, and prospective new clients advised that this is wrong without an expensive advertising/marketing campaign on my part ? Are telstra allowed to have these 6 month embargo's that make for a anti-competitive situation ? ---- email "unsubscribe aussie-isp" to m a j o r d o m o @ a u s s i e . n e t to be removed. |
