Presence-pc at reports that France Telecom just announced they are offering
2.5 Gb/s internet connection to select cities in the Paris region. For...
$85(70 Euros) a month you also get free phone and TV. From the article (in
French): "The historical operator opted for a GPON (Gigabit Passive Optical
Network) FTTH architecture (Fiber To The Home). This technology allows up to
2.5 Gbits/s download and 1.2 Gigabits/s upload.""

David Hooton: [Oz-ISP] Optusnet Postmaster/Caching DNS Contact?

Hi All,

I have a customer who is having probelms recieving mail from Optusnet
customers, does anyone have an Optusnet postmaster contact they can
provide me with?

It appears that Optus are caching DNS lookups well beyond the TTL's
specified in the Zone and as a result a DNS change made over a week
ago is not being picked up.

User Mark: [Oz-ISP] legacy netblocks and AAPT/Connect

I have a legacy (AUNIC) netblock that someone else is routing via Connect
without my permission, Connect are also my upstream. The WHOIS data has
not changed since 1996 yet they are refusing to deroute it and route it to
me. Does anyone have a contact with a clue at Connect/AAPT that knows how
to read WHOIS data?

Ross Wheeler: [Oz-ISP] Review of the TIO scheme.

Sorry for the cross-posting.
Some of you may already be aware or seen this message in other forums,
some may not. If you have, move on.... :)

"The Allen Consulting Group (ACG) has been engaged by
the TIO to undertake a review of the TIO scheme. A significant part
of the review is gaining the views of stakeholders and other
interested parties about the TIO scheme."

As the elected ISP representative on the council of the TIO, I have been
contacted by the aforementioned, seeking assistance in contacting as many
of my peers (ISPs, CSPs, ICPs etc) as possible.

The review is a mandatory part of the scheme, and is conducted from time
to time. It is a very expensive operation and the TIO as a whole would
like to see these reviews much less frequently in future. A little more
information is available here: www.albury.net.au/TIOReviewScopingPaper.pdf

If you would like to "say your piece" about the running of the scheme, I
would strongly urge you to do so. You are welcome to contact ACG directly,
by emailing Kim Huynh <khuynh@allenconsult.com.au> or phone (melbourne)
9654 3800, or you can contact me and I'll collate the details and pass it
on.

I'd like to say also, ACG are an independent lot who were given the job
from a list of several consulting firms who tendered. I believe any views,
suggestions or grievance with the TIO will be done in confidence.

Cheers,
RossW

Hello Noel,

I on no occasion said Veridas was doing bad things.
I simply said you will not be able to email us if you are on Veridas ISP.

We were previously a vISP with Veridas, and current if you like.
There are services with Veridas still due to customers not wanting to leave,
we have to keep with our customers wishes.

Until such time as we don't have any customers on the veridas network anyone
on a Veridas ISP will have issues.
And the answer is no, we have no asked Veridas to correct this as they do
maintain existing realm clients, and our decision to leave Veridas had
NOTHING to do with the quality.

I would go so far as to say Veridas infact have one of the most stable and
reliable networks I have come across, however the plans on offer were not
inline with our goals, that's all.
This forced us to move from the comfort of a vISP position.

If you re-read my post, it said nothing "naughty" about Veridas at all.

Thanks
